PROFILE

PETer - die verzweifelte PET-Flasche

May we introduce?

This is PETer. PETer Bottle.

PETer wonders about the meaning of his short bottle life.

And with good reason, because 17.4 billion of its PET bottle companions are used every year in Germany alone.

Around 438,000 tons of crude oil are required for their production, which could heat 356,000 single-family homes for one year.

Or to say it another way: laid end to end, this quantity of PET bottles would circle the earth 134 times.

The bottles are also a burden on the environment after use. In Asia or in developing countries, PET bottles are often not recycled and are instead disposed of in rivers or even directly in the sea, polluting coasts and beaches and killing animals.
